Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali / Bwindi – The Gorilla Forest
Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, meet your driver for a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Today’s journey takes you across Rwanda’s mountainous landscapes into neighboring Uganda. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of highlands, terraced hillsides, crater lakes, and the majestic Virunga Mountains. Dinner and overnight at Ichumbi.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast, get ready for an unforgettable encounter with the mountain gorillas. Bwindi is the only forest in Africa that hosts both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, along with five other primate species, 113 mammal species, over 200 butterflies, and 360 bird species. Gorilla tracking times can be unpredictable, lasting from 2 to 5 hours or more, often involving long hikes through steep, muddy trails, sometimes in the rain, before reaching the gorillas. It’s a thrilling adventure in an extraordinary ecosystem – a chance to see Uganda own Gorillas in the Mist up close. Dinner and overnight at Ichumbi.
Day 3: Sabyinyo Volcano Hiking Adventure
The hike up the extinct Sabyinyo Volcano in southwestern Uganda includes climbing its three peaks. The trail leads through muddy paths and wooden ladders, with possible light rain and clearing clouds revealing breathtaking views of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. At the summit, stand the point where Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo meet. The hike can be steep and challenging, but the experience and panoramic views are well worth it.
